Guided Steps exists to give care-experienced young people in Preston a safe, calm place to learn how to live independently.

The organisation

Guided Steps is an independent, Ofsted-registered supported accommodation provider based in Preston, Lancashire. We run a small number of homes for young people aged 16–18 who are leaving care, working exclusively with local authorities under Category 1 placements.


We deliberately stay small. Fewer homes means the Registered Service Manager knows every young person, every member of staff, and every placing social worker by name.

Same staff, same routines, same expectations. Young people know where they stand.

Honesty

Plain answers for young people and plain reporting for commissioners, including when things go wrong.

Patience

Independence is learned at each young person’s pace, not to a fixed timetable.
